A Disney cruise is unlike any other vacation at sea. The attention to detail, character experiences, and family-friendly atmosphere make it truly special. Here is what to expect on your first sailing.
Embarkation day is an event itself. You will be greeted by name as you board, and a cast member will announce your family to the atrium. It sets the tone for the entire trip.
Rotational dining is a Disney Cruise Line exclusive. Instead of eating in the same restaurant every night, you rotate through three themed restaurants with your servers following you. The food quality is outstanding.
The kids clubs are legendary. Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab offer supervised activities for ages 3-12, and teens have their own dedicated spaces like Vibe. Parents can track their children via the DCL Navigator app.
Character meet-and-greets happen throughout the ship. You will find Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters in dedicated spaces with much shorter waits than at the theme parks.
Castaway Cay (and the new Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) are Disney's private islands. They feature family beaches, an adults-only beach, character experiences, and included barbecue lunch. Many guests say it is the highlight of the cruise.
Pirate Night is a signature event featuring a themed dinner, deck party, and fireworks at sea. Disney is the only cruise line that does fireworks on the ocean.
Our best advice: book your port excursions and Palo/Enchanté dining at your booking window (typically 75 days before sailing for new cruisers). These reservations fill up fast. We handle all of this for our clients!
