What We Handle for You

  • Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure planning
  • Good Neighbor hotel and on-site hotel selection
  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass and single-day ticket strategies

  • Tips for combining with a Southern California road trip

Where to Stay

Disneyland Resort offers three on-property hotels: the Disneyland Hotel (the original, with themed rooms and character dining), Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (a stunning Craftsman-style lodge with a private park entrance to California Adventure), and Pixar Place Hotel (recently reimagined with Pixar theming and a rooftop pool). On-property guests enjoy Early Entry to the parks. For budget-friendly alternatives, dozens of Good Neighbor hotels line Harbor Boulevard within walking distance. The Courtyard by Marriott Theme Park Entrance, Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort, and Howard Johnson by the park are popular choices offering clean rooms at a fraction of the on-property price.

Best Time to Visit

The best times to visit Disneyland Resort are mid-January through mid-March (excluding Presidents' Day weekend), mid-September through mid-November, and select weekdays throughout the year. Summers and holiday periods see the highest crowds. The 70th Anniversary celebration in 2025-2026 is drawing larger-than-usual attendance.

What to Do

Disneyland Park is where it all started, home to Walt Disney's original vision. Must-dos include Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (build your own lightsaber and pilot the Millennium Falcon), Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, and the classic Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney California Adventure features the Avengers Campus, Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land (best experienced at night when Radiator Springs glows), and the Incredicoaster. Downtown Disney offers free-admission dining, shopping, and entertainment including the new Parkside Market food hall.

Dining

Disneyland's dining scene ranges from iconic treats to upscale experiences. Blue Bayou Restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean offers one of the most atmospheric dining experiences in any Disney park. Oga's Cantina in Galaxy's Edge serves themed cocktails in a lively cantina setting. Lamplight Lounge in California Adventure has craft cocktails with boardwalk views. For quick bites, Bengal Barbecue skewers, Dole Whip at the Tropical Hideaway, and the Monte Cristo sandwich at Cafe Orleans are must-tries. Napa Rose at the Grand Californian provides fine dining with a California wine country theme.

Insider Tips

  • 1Disneyland is more compact than Walt Disney World, so you can realistically experience both parks in 2-3 days. Park Hopper tickets are especially valuable here since the parks are a short walk apart.
  • 2Max out your first hour at rope drop. Head straight to the newest or most popular attractions before lines build.
  • 3Downtown Disney is free to visit and offers excellent dining and shopping without requiring park admission.
  • 4If driving, arrive early to secure preferred parking. Alternatively, stay at a Good Neighbor hotel with shuttle service to avoid parking costs entirely.
  • 5Mobile ordering through the Disneyland app saves significant time at quick-service restaurants. Order 30-45 minutes before you plan to eat.

Planning Timeline

Book your hotel 3-6 months in advance for the best selection, especially at on-property hotels. Dining reservations open 60 days out. Disneyland trips require less lead time than Walt Disney World, but peak season dates should be booked early.

Budget Tip

Multi-day tickets offer the best per-day value, and kids' tickets (ages 3-9) are discounted. Good Neighbor hotels near Harbor Blvd offer clean, affordable stays within walking distance. Watch for seasonal ticket promotions like the Kids' Summer Ticket offer.
