Summer & 4th of July

The 4th of July at Walt Disney World is one of the most spectacular (and busiest) days of the year. Magic Kingdom hosts a special extended fireworks show that is widely considered the best pyrotechnics display in Central Florida.
All four parks operate with extended hours, patriotic decorations line Main Street U.S.A., and characters appear in red, white, and blue outfits. EPCOT's American Adventure pavilion hosts special entertainment, and Hollywood Studios adds patriotic elements to its evening shows.
The trade-off is crowds. July 3-5 are among the busiest days of the year, rivaling Christmas week. But with a solid strategy and the right expectations, the fireworks alone make it worth the visit.
Plan Ahead
Extended fireworks show at Magic Kingdom -- the biggest of the year
Characters in patriotic outfits for special photo opportunities
Patriotic decorations and bunting along Main Street U.S.A.
Special entertainment at EPCOT's American Adventure pavilion
Extended park hours (Magic Kingdom often stays open until 1 AM)
Extreme crowds -- plan for long waits and arrive early
Seasonal red, white, and blue treats and beverages
Insider Tips
Stake out your fireworks viewing spot at least 90 minutes early -- the Hub and Main Street fill up fast
Consider watching from the Polynesian beach or a boat on the Seven Seas Lagoon for a less crowded experience
Use the afternoon lull (2-5 PM) for pool time at your resort, then return refreshed for the evening show
Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane are essential on this day -- book as early as possible
Stay hydrated -- bring refillable water bottles and take advantage of free ice water at any quick-service restaurant
